The Portraits of Coventry Project is a series of 12 paintings depicting the lives of Orbit customers based in Coventry, including those who moved to the city from elsewhere and made it their home.Īndy Farr is an artist based in Coventry, with a proven track record of creating and delivering projects that tells the stories of members of the community. Each painting covers the life-stories of ‘ordinary’ people and their memories and experiences in Coventry.
With this in mind, Orbit commissioned local artist, Andy Farr, to create narrative portraits of residents of Orbit’s independent living schemes and members of the communities where the residents live. Part of Orbit’s investment includes supporting community projects across the city, aligning with its commitment to building thriving communities. In 2020, Orbit announced its sponsorship of Coventry City of Culture 2021.
